For our birthdays, Nate and I went to New York City to celebrate!  Nate had never been before and it was my second time.  It is only two hours from where we live!

We came in on the fourth of July and saw the fireworks on the harbor.  They lasted for 45 minutes!!!  Way too long.  They were still cool though.

The next day we saw a Yankees game at the new stadium in the Bronx.  The old stadium is still being torn down and it is right next to the new one.  The subway/Metro runs right next to both stadiums...you can see it from the seats we were in.  We scalped tickets from some scary guys outside of the stadium...they were hard-ballers! Here's our view of the field.  The Yankees beat the Toronto Bluejays 10 to 8!!  What a great game!

On the Statue of Liberty island, we had a perfect view of the skyline.  This is the first year that the crown and monument are open for tourists so the tickets were sold out way before we checked...we only got to see the statue from the ground, but it was still neat.
